Author Interview - Adi Swarup

1. Can you tell us a little about your book?

The story is about an evil scientist who tries to challenge Pirate Burp to go to 4 of his Island creations and complete the challenge on each on of them in a day or else he will blast his city with a bomb.

2. Is there a specific event that inspired this story or was this an out of the blue idea?

It was inspired by ‘captain underpants’.

3. What got you writing in the first place?

I got into writing as it is fun and it also allowed me to imagine and write anything I want to.

4. What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?

I was really excited and want to tell the story to everyone.

5. Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?

I like the fact that Pirate Burp takes up various challenges no matter how difficult the situation appears.

6. What makes your book the one to read?

It is an adventure book which tells you to never give up and be fun at all times.

7. What was the best advice you got while writing?

The best advice was to make the story as funny and mysterious as possible, so people could enjoy it while reading.

8. Who’s your all-time favourite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?

I love the books written by Roald Dahl, Dav Pilkey, Jeff Kiney and Nick Arnold.

9. What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?

My tip would be to make the story completely your own and write everything that you want it to be like.

10. What was your hardest scene to write?

The hardest part of the book was writing the chapter 7 (Snow Island), because I took a lot of time giving the chapter its name and to think what the challenge would be on the island.

11. Do you have another plot brewing?

I have already started writing the second part of the book because I am trying to make a whole series Pirate Burp and his adventures.
