Author Interview- Arwa Rajgarhwala

1)

Can you tell us a little about your book?

To be successful in this fast-changing world, one needs to be productive. This means getting a lot done in a small amount of time without compromising on quality. But a major roadblock in achieving that productivity is Procrastination. In simple words, Procrastination is the postponement of productive work instead of doing less important or unproductive work. Procrastination is a problem that everyone faces today. We as humans are hardwired to look for present instant rewards rather than our significant future goals. This always makes us delay our essential tasks, and we do less important or unproductive tasks. This affects our future and overall growth. "Breaking The Procrastination Spell" focuses on letting the readers know what exactly is Procrastination, its triggers, costs, and effects, and lastly, and most importantly, practical solutions to curb it.

2)
Is there a specific event that inspired this story, or was this an out-of-the-blue idea?

This book is a result of a lot of my personal experiences and those around me. I was a chronic procrastinator myself and delayed important work to the extent that I chose my academics according to my comfort as a procrastinator. It always feels good to help others, and if it's my life's example as a procrastinator that allows others to refrain from procrastinating even one bit, then it's worth sharing. That was the whole idea behind the book.

3)

What got you writing in the first place?

I am a neophiliac with "Never stop" as my motto for life. Also, I have always been fascinated with communicating and knowing new people. It's such a wonderful experience connecting with new people, sharing their experiences, and growing with each other's knowledge. And I guess writing has always been in my blood, whether it's my mom, brother, or aunt. This all made me realize that I want to help others, communicate with people, and share experiences. That's when it hit me that writing a book will make all that possible.

I just needed an initial push to start as I am also human and not that far from Procrastination's reach. That push and always my inspiration was my husband. One day I just decided I would start with it no matter how small, even if it's just writing a line, and that's how this book came into existence, one line at a time.

4)

What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?

The first draft always seems to be incomplete and missing elements. Mine was no different. But I knew it was on the right track and needed to be polished. That's when some of the fantastic people I am blessed with helped me get through the whole process of editing and shaping it into a book.

5)

Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?

Missing opportunities is something I can connect with the most. Procrastination took away from me some fantastic opportunities. But those were my choices then. Now I choose to curb Procrastination and keep striving never to miss an opportunity.

6)

What makes your book the one to read?

Procrastination has no bias. Every being on Earth has experienced it at some point in time. That's why this book is entirely relatable to people in every walk of life. This book provides the reasons for your habit of postponing things, their triggers, and most importantly, dozens of practical tactics to help overcome them.

This book will surely help its readers to fight the most powerful foe of today's times' Procrastination. I am sure that's reason enough to grab a copy of "Breaking The Procrastination Spell."

7)

What was the best advice you got while writing?

To believe in me even when I feel low and demotivated. To keep going and keep growing no matter what. To try and not give up because of your efforts and the fact that you did something more than the success. Success is anyways sequential, will be yours, but you always have to keep trying for it.
