1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
“The Age of Us" is a sweet Fiction story of a boy’s life from the age of 18 to 28 years. It's about
his young days of struggling with life, friendships, and love. This journey shows how we
transform from innocent children to mature adults. It is not just his story; it is our story, one way or another. Not to mention, we all have faced such situations at least once during our life span.
2. Is there a specific event that inspired this story or was this an out-of-the-blue idea?
There was a time when I was alone. Neither any friend nor anyone with whom I can share a thing.
Whenever I call any of my friends, they would say that they are busy. Then I remembered my
old days and when I looked around, everyone was struggling like this. So, I started writing the
moments that people had lived, were living, or were about to live. Friends who turned or left at
some point. That moment, by reading which one can know their old days or the coming days.
3. What got you writing in the first place?
At first, I wanted to tell the people or reader that what happened in jobs. Then, I started writing
my whole life which is sad too. Then, I again started from scratch about ‘the age of us’. From
sad and depressed to happy and funny.
4. What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?
It reminds me of the kind of things that I’d done in my life. Like; I failed twice in college, my first
girlfriend in college, and toxicity actually in my job. Then, I again started to look at my old pictures,
and videos of those days. So, I thought people who read it will also feel the same because we are all
being through that phase.
5. Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?
Chapter names “An event” and “worse than worst.” Because it is the kind of the same thing that
happened to me. In my first year of college, I failed during an event time, and then, at our own
event, most of us failed. The funny thing at that time was when I found out my enemy failed in 3
subjects at once. I said, “it took me one & half years to get in 3 and he got at once.” Everyone
was serious and I was enjoying his failure. It made them laugh too actually and when we sit and
whenever the topic about any event came then this thing has come into the discussion.
6. What makes your book the one to read?
The age of us is not only a character’s story who ages between 18 to 28. This is also the story of
all those people who are of this age. This is also about those who must have done some or the
other thing in this. Your friends, family, and girlfriend. this is our story.
7. What was the best advice you got while writing?
Fiction is an evergreen genre. You can do anything in your imagination and write it. The best thing
is that, you will never feel that you are alone.
8. Who’s your all-time favorite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with
them?
Not a reader so, none.
9. What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?
As a beginner writer, take an experience from your present and past. Starts to make a note of
that like small notes. Then, elaborate that notes and then it will automatically make the stories.
Also, it will take you to the future of your story.
10. What was your hardest scene to write?
The separation part with all friends and left alone on a single path. Doing nothing, standing still
and no one is there till thousands of kilometers. Most of us faced the same thing in our
life.
11. Do you have another plot brewing?
No, not at the moment.
