Author Interview- Renuka Gangan

1)

Can you tell us a little about your book?

The book is a collection of poetry, about love, which has come to my mind based on my moods, emotions, and imagination.

  2)

Is there a specific event that inspired this story (Poetry) or was this an out-of-the-blue idea?

I always wanted to write a book. And since I am a singer and a songwriter, poetry comes naturally to me. Also, my mother writes poems in Marathi, so in a way, it has come from her.

During this year, I somehow started writing more poems than songs. After a few days, the idea of publishing a book became rooted thus resulting in writing more poems and now this book.

3)

What got you writing in the first place?

As I said earlier my mother is a poet and a songwriter. So, since my school days, I have had this knack for writing. I remember, that I had written my first poem when I was in school, for one of my favorite aunts. After that, now, have been serious about making it a habit of writing and saving these poems.

4)

What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?

All my poems are special to me. Every time I read them, I feel the love and all related feelings, like longing, romance, pain, or beauty. I hope people will receive the book well and will experience all the emotions while reading.

5)

Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?

Speaking about which poem connects most, they all belong to the same theme. It is like pearls have been intertwined to create a necklace. They all are connected to me and I am connected with these poems.

6)

What makes your book the one to read?

Every person experiences love in some way or the other. Just like every love story is unique, the interpretation of love is going to be different and unique for every person. So, I believe, my poems will be received well and it will make people fall in love, for some, again, or else experience the magic of love through words.

7)

What was the best advice you got while writing?

Write something every day, even if it is the bare minimum. And to not edit or make any corrections while writing. Let the thoughts flow. Once the emotions have been put into words, the grammar and other corrections can be managed.

8)

Who’s your all-time favorite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?

Ayn Rand – The Fountainhead. More than the philosophy, her way of writing appeals to me. She is just brilliant, complex, but that intelligence is appealing.

9)

What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?

Writing just happens to me. Whenever I am filled with thoughts, words exude and form poetry or a song. So, the tip I can share is, follow your heart and passion. Everything else will fall in place.

10)

Do you have another plot brewing?

Yeah. Currently, I am working on my next poetry book. Again, poems on love and life.
