Author Interview- Vinod

1)

Can you tell us a little about your book?

It's a collection of short stories and two short plays. All of them present a slice of life. Dwelling on how our lives are intertwined... And how life often throws up surprises.

2)

Is there a specific event that inspired this story, or was this an out-of-the-blue idea?

Out of many ''blues''. At various times, something, someone, or some incident has touched a chord in me. At that point, I feel compelled to write... And so I do. There'sThere's no ''process'', as such, just a raw outpouring of emotions and thoughts.

3)

What got you writing in the first place?

Loneliness. A need to communicate without being judged. A need to express my deepest feelings... Of love, fear, anger, exasperation, wonder, disgust, hope... And so much more.

4)

What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?

I'm not a good judge of my writing. My wife and children are... And they seemed to like what I had written.

5)

Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?

All of them. I see myself as a character in all of them. Someone, somewhere, in all the stories... Is me.

6)

What makes your book the one to read?

Don't you need a little chili... Or cardamom... Or oregano in your food? Here it is...for your thoughts... In tapas size bites.

7)

What was the best advice you got while writing?

''Forget about what people will say or think. Write, because you want to say something. Something that moves or touches, or affects you. In anyway... However small. ''

8)

Who's your all-time favorite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?

O. Henry. I've read everything she's written.
I love his simplicity of style. The easy language, his perspective on life... And the twist his stories always have.

 9)

What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?

''Forget about what people will say or think. Write, because you want to say something. Something that moves or touches or affects you. In anyway... However small. ''

 10)

Do you have another plot brewing?

Yes. A longer format. A full-fledged novel. About three months to go... Maybe more. Or less... I don't know.
Slice of life. Again.
